Curmudgeons of the English Renaissance
Miyo Aoki has performed with groups in the US, Germany, and Poland and is a member of the Farallon Recorder Quartet. She has premiered works by contemporary composers Natalie Williams and Agnes Dorwarth, and in recent years was delighted to play with the Boise Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, Oregon Symphony, and Eugene Symphony, respectively, in performances of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Miyo holds an Artist Diploma from the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, Germany, where she studied with Han Tol, and degrees in both early music performance and mathematics from Indiana University, where she studied with Eva Legêne.

Professor Emeritus of Music Composition at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and avid recorder player who has written extensively for the instrument.  His composition "Waltz" was featured as the 2017 Play-the-Recorder Month Composition for the American Recorder Society.  Member: ARS Play-the-Recorder Month Task Force, and Oak Park Recorder School Board of Directors.
Music Director: Milwaukee Area Recorder Society, and The Renard Consort (Appleton, WI).

David received his MFA in Early Music Performance, from Sarah Lawrence College. While living in NYC, performed and recorded with Pomerium Musices, The Taverner Consort, New York Schola Antiqua and the Baltimore Consort. Mr. Echelard serves as voice educator and Director of Polyphonic music at the SSPX Saint Thomas Aquinas Seminary, artistic director of the Blue Heron Consort Early Music Vocal ensemble & "Hurly Burly" a French Traditional music ensemble. David chooses to live in Winona, Minnesota, is a freelance vocalist, performer, and spends most of his time playing the Hurdy Gurdy and planning his next big adventure.

Brazilian Music for Recorder Ensemble &
Spices from a Far Land
Brazilian recorder player Cléa Galhano has performed in the United States, Canada, South America and Europe as a chamber musician collaborating with recorder player Marion Verbruggen, Jacques Ogg, Belladonna Baroque Quartet and Kingsbury Ensemble. As a featured soloist, she has worked with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, New World Symphony, Musical Offering and Lyra Baroque Orchestra. Ms. Galhano has performed at the Boston Early Music Festival, the Tage Alter Music Festival in Germany and at Wigmore Hall in London, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall in New York and Palazzo Santa Croce in Rome. Galhano studied in Brazil at Faculdade Santa Marcelina, the Royal Conservatory (The Hague), and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, earning  Fulbright Scholarship and support from the Dutch government. She is the Music Director of the Recorder Orchestra of the Midwest. And recently received the prestigious McKnight fellowship award, MSAB Cultural collaborative and MSAB Arts Initiative. Currently, she is a Senior faculty member at Macalester College and Recorder Instructor at HP Jacobs of Music . Ms. Galhano has nine recordings available on Dorian, Ten Thousand Lakes and Eldorado label . Clea is the recipient of the National Arts Associate of Sigma Alpha Iota and the American Recorder Society President's Special Honor Award.

Liza Malamut specializes in historical trombones and is Artistic Director of The Newberry Consort in Chicago. She is also a founding member of Incantare, an ensemble of violins and sackbuts. A passionate teacher and researcher, she teaches sackbut at Indiana University and is a coeditor and contributor for the book Music and Jewish Culture in Early Modern Italy: New Perspectives, winner of the 2023 Ruth A. Solie Award. When not engaged in musical activities, Liza can usually be found on a hiking trail, reading a good book, or both.

Early One Morning with Merry Glee
Based in Central Illinois and the Chicago area, Lisette Kielson performs as recorder soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player throughout the Midwest. Past President of the ARS and former Director of Bradley University's Collegium Musicum, Lisette continues her love of teaching by serving as Music Director of the ARS Chicago Chapter and on the faculty of Madison Bach Musicians Summer Chamber Music Workshop and by maintaining an active Zoom studio for students of all levels from across the country. Lisette holds Bachelor and Master Degrees from Indiana University and a post-master's Diploma from The Royal Conservatory of The Hague. She has recorded with Centaur Records as well as with her own label and is a founding member of Chicago Recorder Trio.

LAURA KUHLMAN

Laura Kuhlman resides in Portland, OR where she is the music director for the Portland Recorder Society and the Recorder Orchestra of Oregon. She is also a member of the Oregon Renaissance Band.  Laura has been an active advocate for early music, including serving on the Board for the American Recorder Society and the Early Music Guild of Oregon.

JOHN MARK ROZENDAAL

John Mark Rozendaal specializes in teaching and performing stringed instrument music from the Baroque and Renaissance eras. As founding Artistic Director of the Chicago Baroque Ensemble, Rozendaal performed and led seven seasons of subscription concerts, educational programs, radio broadcasts, and recordings for the Cedille and Centaur labels. Rozendaal served as principal 'cellist of The City Musick, and Basically Bach, and has performed both solo and continuo roles with many period instrument ensembles. In addition to his work with Trio Settecento, Rozendaal performs as a member of Brandywine Baroque Ensemble and LeStrange Viols.
A dedicated teacher, Rozendaal is in demand as a workshop instructor and often joins the faculties of the Viola da Gamba Society of America Conclave, Viols West's annual workshop, Amherst Early Music, Madison Early Music Festival, and the Music Institute of Chicago's annual Baroque Festival. Rozendaal teaches private lessons and Viola da Gamba Dojo classes at his studio in Manhattan.

MONA MANN
Advanced Beginner Consort
Mona Mann teaches K-4 General Music at Lincoln Elementary School in River Forest, Illinois. She is an Orff- Schulwerk recorder teacher trainer at the University of St. Thomas and the University of Kentucky summer Orff levels training courses. Ms. Mann earned a degree in Flute and French from Indiana University Bloomington, a performance degree from the Conservatoire National de Region de Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France, and a Master's in Music Education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. She is certified in the Suzuki Recorder Method Books 1-4.  She is in her 21st year of public school music teaching.
PATRICK O'MALLEY

Patrick earned a master's degree in recorder at Indiana University, studying with Eva Legêne. With a Fulbright scholarship he pursued advanced recorder studies with Han Tol at the Rotterdam Conservatory, as well as conducting and harpsichord. He is a registered Suzuki Method recorder teacher. Patrick teaches students of all ages, both in person and online. He is the director of the Music Institute of Chicago's Evanston campus. He performs regularly with ensembles such as Haymarket Opera Company, Music of the Baroque, and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Patrick is proud to be a member of the Chicago Recorder Trio.

Charlie Rasmussen, viola da gamba, is the Instrumental Director at Just Bach and also performs with the Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble and the Madison Bach Musicians. Charlie serves on the board of directors of Early Music Now and helps coordinate the Milwaukee Early Music series. Charlie coaches the viol consort at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has been on faculty at the Madison Early Music Festival. He has released two albums on the Centaur Records label. Charlie is a cello faculty member and the Suzuki Coordinator at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee.
GAIL SCHROEDER
Palestrina…500 years! & The Music of John Ward
Gail Ann Schroeder studied viola da gamba at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Wieland Kuijken, obtaining her First Prize and Higher Diploma, with distinction. She subsequently taught viola da gamba, pedagogy and directed the viol consort at the Brussels Conservatory from 1988 to 2002.
Since returning to the USA in 2006, she has coached at workshops for the Viola da Gamba Society of America, the Amherst Early Music Festival, Mountain Collegium, Music on the Mountain and Retreat to Advance. Currently living in North Carolina, she teaches and performs extensively in the southeast and is artistic director of Asheville Baroque Concerts.
Katherine Shuldiner
Beginner Viol
Katherine Shuldiner is an accomplished viola da gamba performer, teacher, and advocate based in Chicago. She graduated from Oberlin Conservatory under the tutelage of Catharina Meints and has since become a fixture in the city's baroque music scene.
Katherine performs extensively with ensembles such as The Newberry Consort, BBE: Bach and Beethoven Experience, Bella Voce, Apollo Chorus, Elmhurst Symphony, Washington Bach Consort, La Follia Austin Baroque, Bel Canto Chorus, and the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra. Her repertoire spans soloist, consort, and continuo roles, and she has delivered acclaimed performances of Bach's St. Matthew and St. John Passion. Katherine's dedication to the viola da gamba extends beyond the stage. She served on the board of the Viola da Gamba Society of America and currently contributes to the Oak Park Recorder School. Katherine is a dedicated educator who teaches viola da gamba to students of all ages. Along with her private studio, she currently serves as the Viola da Gamba Teacher and Assistant Baroque Orchestra Director at Stevenson High School. In the summer, she also teaches at early music programs such as the Madison Early Music Festival, Mountain Collegium, VdGSA Conclave, and Whitewater Early Music Festival, where she also holds the position of viola da gamba program director.
